Jelena Žovnikova, Head of business development Fundwise OÜ, will present the topic: “ Overview of Estonian Startup Ecosystem and Its Development in Recent Years” and Silja Elunurm, CEO at Njord Law Office, will present the topic “ Lawyers’ View on Venture Capital Deals: Best Practice and Case Studies“. They will introduce you with the Estonian experience of building an efficient ecosystem for nurturing startups. Statistics and legal paragraphs will be illustrated by real-life cases.

Jelena Zovnikova, HBD at Fundwise (Estonia) currently mostly engaged in alternative finance and startup markets: developing two crowdfunding platforms (Fundwise, Hooandja), mentoring teams at incubators/accelerators (StartupWiseGuys, Prototron).

She has 15+ year experience in professional advisory field in the role of both an advisor and a partner (Grant Thornton Baltic): incl. managing an audit, accounting and advisory company, bringing it to stable organic growth and further – to several M&As; managing financial & business advisory and transfer pricing client projects; organizing a department of accounting outsourcing services, etc.
Jelena has multi-year advisory and general management experience as a well. She acts as a professional in finance and understand how to structure efficient and profitable projects.

Silja Elunurm, CEO at Njord Law Office, is an attorney at law and a member of the Estonian Bar Association. She has extensive experience in consulting information technology companies throughout their life span. She has also represented technology companies in court disputes in patent, trademark and licencing matters.

She is one of the developers of Tartu University IT law program and is a visiting lecturer in this program. Silja was a member of the Estonian intellectual property codification work group that drafted a model codification for modernizing Estonian intellectual property legislation.
