On February 11-13, 2018 7 promising startups from Belarus spent 3 days in London meeting entrepreneurs, investors and potential clients.
More than 60 startups applied to compete for the chance to be part of the roadshow. 12 companies were selected in the first round, and had the opportunity to pitch at Belbiz Battle competition organised by Imaguru in November 2017 as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week. Then 7 competition winners have got the chance to meet London ecosystem players in February, 2018.
The roadshow participants visited London and Partners, DIT, Facebook office in London, Rocket Space, Founders Factory, TehHub among many other places.
The startups had the opportunity to pitch their startups to the attendees of the First Belarus Pitch Night held at Huckletree Coworking space. Lots of questions, high interest, immediate feedback from the audience and promising meetings with local investors are among the most important takeaways from the event.
Another highlight was the meeting with Sergey Gonchar, MSQRD cofounder, a company that was acquired by Facebook. Today Sergey works for Facebook London. He shared his story at Belarus Pitch Night together with Tania Marinich and Nastya Khamiankova, co-founders of Imaguru.
Tania who is today raising the first seed fund for Imaguru, talked about how Imaguru is helping such companies as MSQRD ( born at Imaguru hackathon) and many others to scale global.
According to Tania Marinich, the roadshow organizer and Imaguru co-founder and CEO, the Roadshow was the perfect occasion for young innovators from Belarus to fine-tune their business models and drive their ideas to the frontline of the London VC ecosystem. “We are planning to organise such events annually and be more present in London with various events promoting Belarus ecosystem,” — she said commenting the results of the roadshow.
